wELCOME TO JACKSONVILLE'S HALL OF FAME
Jacksonville, AL is home to many successful, smart, and famous people. On this website you will find a few of those people, but first let us tell you a little about Jacksonville. Jacksonville is home of the Golden Eagles and Jacksonville State University Gamecocks. Jacksonville was founded in 1833 on land purchased from Creek Indian Chief Du-Hoag Ladiga. It was first called Drayton, but later changed to Jacksonville in honor of President Andrew Jackson in 1834. Jacksonville State University was founded in 1883. Jacksonville Elementary School was established in 1924. It was later bought by JSU in 1977 and was called Jacksonville Elementary Laboratory School. Later in 1999 when the principal Mrs.Kitty Stone, retired they called the school Kitty Stone Elementary School in honor of her service and dedication to our school.
